Amish craftsman working with hand tools in a warm workshop

Our Story

Built on Tradition. Shaped by Hands.

Maryland Amish Hardwood was founded on a simple belief — that furniture should be made to last, not made to be replaced.

Our People

Who We Are

We are a small family business rooted in the farmlands of Maryland, working directly with Amish craftsmen whose families have been building furniture for generations. There are no factories here, no assembly lines, no shortcuts.

Every piece that leaves our workshop was built by a single craftsman from start to finish — someone who takes personal pride in every joint, every surface, every finish. When you sit at one of our tables, you're sitting at something someone poured real care into.

01

Honesty in Materials

We use only solid hardwood — no veneers, no particle board, no filler. What you see is what the piece is made of, all the way through.

02

One Craftsman, One Piece

Each order is assigned to a single maker. They cut it, join it, sand it, and finish it. No handoffs. No assembly-line fragmentation.

03

Built to Outlast You

We build furniture that becomes an heirloom. Mortise and tenon joints. Hand-cut dovetails. Finishes that protect for decades, not years.

Our Wood

Sourced Close. Chosen Carefully.

We source our hardwood from sustainably managed forests in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and the surrounding Appalachian region. Black walnut, white oak, cherry, hard maple — each species chosen for its character, its grain, and its strength.

Our craftsmen select boards by hand, reading the grain and choosing pieces that will age beautifully. A knot in the right place isn't a flaw — it's a signature.

Black WalnutRich, dark, and deeply grained. The most prized of American hardwoods.
White OakStrong, tight-grained, and warm. Ages to a beautiful honey tone.
CherryStarts light, deepens to a warm reddish-brown over years of use.
Hard MaplePale, fine-grained, and exceptionally durable. Ideal for desks and work surfaces.

How We Work

From Log to Living Room

01

You Tell Us What You Need

We start with a conversation — dimensions, wood species, finish, and any custom details. No order is too specific.

02

Wood Is Selected by Hand

Your craftsman visits the lumber yard and hand-selects boards for your piece. The grain, the color, the character — all chosen with your piece in mind.

03

Built Without Shortcuts

Joints are cut by hand. Surfaces are planed, scraped, and sanded through multiple grits. No nail guns. No staples. No glue where wood should hold.

04

Finished to Last

We use oil-based finishes that penetrate the wood rather than sitting on top of it. They protect deeply and can be refreshed for generations.

05

Delivered With Care

White-glove delivery to your home. We wrap every piece ourselves and won't leave until it's exactly where you want it.
